The seats affected include the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr Constituency in Narok County, as well as Poro Ward in Samburu County and Endo Ward in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat fell vacant after the death of area MP Johanna Ngeno, who died in a helicopter crash on February 28, 2026.

Emurua Dikirr Constituency is one of six constituencies in Narok County and was created ahead of the 2013 general elections.

The by-elections will also fill vacancies in two county assembly wards. Poro Ward is part of Samburu’s local electoral structure, while Endo Ward lies within Marakwet East Constituency, which is divided into four wards, including Embobut/Embolot, Endo, Kapyego and Sambirir.

The by-elections will give voters in the three areas an opportunity to elect new representatives to fill the vacant seats in Parliament and county assemblies.

Political parties are expected to conduct nominations ahead of the poll, while independent candidates will also be allowed to contest in accordance with electoral regulations.

The upcoming contests are likely to attract significant political interest as parties position themselves to secure the seats, particularly in Narok, where the parliamentary race will determine the successor to the late MP.

The by-elections will be conducted under the supervision of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, which is mandated to organize and oversee elections in Kenya.
