Ida Odinga Opens Up About Raila’s Final Check-Up
Meanwhile, Raila’s widow, Ida Odinga, has shared details of his final medical check-up in India, saying doctors had given him a clean bill of health before he travelled to Kerala for what was expected to be a short holiday.
Speaking during a television interview on Wednesday evening, October 14, 2026, Ida said Raila had spent four days in hospital undergoing medical examinations and that she had not been informed of any serious health concerns.
“He was going for a check-up; there was nothing serious. Had it been that serious, I would have gone with him; I would not have left him to go alone, though they went with Winnie,” she said.
Ida explained that Raila had initially been expected to return to Kenya after the check-up but later decided to extend his stay in Kerala for a brief break.
She described Kerala as a destination where people travel to relax and take health-related holidays away from their usual routines.
“In Kerala, many people go there for health holidays, because you just relax and no maneno mingi,” she said.
