NAIROBI, Kenya – Inspector-General of the National Police Service Douglas Kanja on Monday hosted the Managing Director of the Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation (KOFC), Major General George Okumu, for talks aimed at enhancing collaboration between the two institutions.
The courtesy call, held at the National Police Service Headquarters, focused on strengthening institutional cooperation, improving support services and exploring strategic partnerships to enhance the operational effectiveness and capacity of the National Police Service.
According to the National Police Service, the discussions centred on areas of mutual interest that would deepen collaboration between the police service and the state corporation in support of Kenya’s security objectives.
“The meeting provided an opportunity to deliberate on areas of mutual interest aimed at strengthening collaboration. Discussions focused on enhancing support services, fostering institutional cooperation, and exploring strategic partnerships to bolster the operational effectiveness and capacity of the Service,” the National Police Service said in a statement.
The Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation is a State corporation under the Ministry of Defence mandated to manufacture defence hardware, machinery and equipment for Kenya’s security sector.
The corporation is ISO 9001:2008 certified and manufactures small arms ammunition while also fabricating high-precision tools and engineering components using modern manufacturing technologies to support the country’s defence and security capabilities.
The engagement underscores continued collaboration between security institutions as the government seeks to strengthen the operational readiness, logistics and technical capacity of the National Police Service.
Also present during the meeting were National Police Service Director of Planning Richard Lesasuiyan, Assistant Inspector General (AIG); the Inspector-General’s Personal Assistant, James Murithi, Commissioner of Police (CP); and Assistant Director at the KOFC Liaison Office, Captain Janet Matara.
