Arrow Bwoy is facing mounting criticism after his surprise public apology to Nadia Mukami during her 10-year anniversary concert, with several Kenyan content creators accusing the singer of turning the milestone celebration into a personal publicity stunt.
Social media personalities Shorn Arwa, 2Mbili, popularly known as Tumbili, and media personality Liz Jackson have all weighed in on the on-stage moment, arguing that Arrow Bwoy’s gesture was manipulative, poorly timed and unfair to Nadia, whose concert was meant to celebrate a decade in the music industry.
The controversy stems from an emotional exchange during Nadia’s “10 Years of Nadia Mukami” concert at the Masshouse venue on Saturday, August 1.
Arrow Bwoy made a surprise appearance during the show and reunited with Nadia on stage to perform their hit song Radio Love.
After the performance, he brought their son, Kai, onto the stage before going down on one knee to ask for forgiveness over their troubled relationship.
Addressing Nadia before thousands of fans, he said:
“You are one of the special people in my life; you are my number one. There is no day I will ever disrespect you, and if I have in the past disrespected you unknowingly, please forgive me.”
However, Nadia immediately rejected the public apology.
She revealed that she had not expected Arrow Bwoy to attend the concert and accused him of bringing their son to influence how she would respond.
“He came with my child because he knows that when he’s with my child, I can’t do anything or even speak badly to him.”
The award-winning singer also dismissed the gesture as an incomplete apology.
“Thank you for coming through, but that is not an apology.”
She added that nothing had changed between them, telling the crowd:
“Everything iko the same. Blacklist ni ile ile.”
Nadia’s response quickly sparked debate online, with videos from the concert attracting thousands of reactions across social media.
Among the loudest critics was Shorn Arwa, who accused Arrow Bwoy of using emotional manipulation rather than genuine remorse.
According to Shorn Arwa, bringing the couple’s son onto the stage was a calculated move designed to prevent Nadia from reacting honestly.
She described Arrow Bwoy as a “manipulator,” arguing that he intentionally appeared with their child to change the narrative of the evening and shift the spotlight from Nadia’s career milestone to their personal relationship.
Content creator 2Mbili, better known as Tumbili, also questioned Arrow Bwoy’s intentions. He argued that the apology appeared more like a public performance than a sincere effort to repair the relationship privately.
“He wasn’t being genuine. He was performing for the crowd.”
Tumbili suggested that if Arrow Bwoy truly wanted forgiveness, he should have approached Nadia away from cameras and fans instead of making the apology part of a live concert.
Media personality Liz Jackson echoed similar sentiments, criticizing both the timing and setting of the apology.
She argued that the anniversary concert belonged to Nadia and should have remained focused on celebrating her decade-long career rather than becoming a stage for relationship drama.
“Just because you have apologised it’s okay to hear NO for an answer. You trying to pull this nonsense on her big day is beneath you. A respected person would congratulate her and walk away. Don’t make it about you.”
Jackson also defended Nadia’s decision to reject the apology, saying no one should feel pressured to accept forgiveness simply because it is offered publicly.
Beyond the reactions from the three personalities, many fans shared similar concerns online.
Some accused Arrow Bwoy of chasing clout and attempting to generate headlines by staging a dramatic public reconciliation.
Others argued that involving the couple’s son made the situation even more uncomfortable, saying children should not be used in attempts to resolve adult relationship conflicts.
Another recurring criticism centered on accountability. Several fans agreed with Nadia’s observation that Arrow Bwoy’s statement—”if I have disrespected you unknowingly”—did not amount to a genuine apology because it failed to acknowledge specific mistakes or take full responsibility.
Their breakup followed a series of personal and public disagreements, including controversy over Arrow Bwoy’s past remarks that Nadia had initially been his “side chick” before becoming his official partner.
Although the pair continue to co-parent their son, Nadia made it clear during the concert that rebuilding trust would require far more than a public display of remorse.
