NAIROBI, Kenya- Jubilee Party leader Dr Fred Matiang’i on Wednesday hosted a high-level consultative meeting with the Linda Mwananchi team led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, as opposition parties intensified efforts to coordinate their strategy ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The meeting, held at Matiang’i’s Karen office, focused on strengthening collaboration within the United Alternative Government, a coalition of opposition leaders seeking to present a united front against President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration.
In a statement after the meeting, Matiang’i said the discussions centred on strategic coordination and aligning the coalition’s agenda as its leaders prepare for political engagements across the country, including an upcoming Linda Mwananchi tour of Western Kenya.
“This morning, I held a productive consultative meeting with the Linda Mwananchi team, led by Nairobi Senator Hon. Edwin Sifuna, at my office in Karen ahead of the team’s tour of Western Kenya,” Matiang’i said.
“Our discussions focused on strengthening strategic coordination across the United Alternative Government and aligning our efforts as we continue to offer Kenyans a credible, principled and people-centred alternative ahead of the 2027 General Election.”
The former Interior Cabinet Secretary said the opposition remains committed to regular consultations as it seeks to consolidate support and build momentum towards the next polls.
“We remain committed to regular consultations and purposeful engagement as we work together to restore accountable leadership, uphold constitutional governance, and put our country firmly back on the path of national renewal,” he added.
The meeting comes as opposition leaders have stepped up joint engagements and regional tours in a bid to consolidate support under the Linda Mwananchi movement and the broader United Alternative Government framework.
Senator Sifuna has been among the key opposition figures spearheading the Linda Mwananchi campaign, which has held rallies across several parts of the country while criticising the Kenya Kwanza administration over the cost of living, governance and economic policies.
Matiang’i, who has emerged as one of the leading opposition figures ahead of the 2027 elections, has in recent months held a series of consultations with leaders from different political parties as efforts continue to forge a united opposition coalition capable of mounting a formidable challenge in the next General Election.
