At least seven people have died after a ferry carrying 267 people capsized off the coast of Northern Cyprus on Sunday.
The vessel, carrying 259 passengers and eight crew members, was travelling from Kyrenia to the Turkish port of Taşucu when it began taking in water.
Authorities said 237 people have been rescued, while 23 others remain missing as search-and-rescue operations continue.
Coast guard vessels, helicopters and naval assets from Northern Cyprus and Türkiye have been deployed in the operation.
Survivors were seen clinging to the overturned vessel while rescue teams worked to bring them safely ashore.
Northern Cyprus Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said, “Search and rescue efforts are continuing uninterrupted, with all our resources mobilized.”
The cause of the ferry’s capsizing remains unclear, with authorities continuing investigations as the search for the missing passengers continues.
