NAIROBI, Kenya – Parliament has unveiled a list of 68 individuals recommended for the 2025 National Honours, recognising legislators, senators, and key parliamentary officers for their contributions to public service.
The list, published during the Thirteenth Parliament’s Fifth Session, was released under Section 8(2) of the National Honours Act, Cap. 216A.
It features nominees across several prestigious categories, including the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS), Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS), and Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS).
Among those nominated are Senate Majority Whip Ledama Olekina, proposed for the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear, and National Assembly Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro, who is set to receive the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear.
Also listed are Minority Whip Junet Mohammed and Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss, alongside several chairs and vice-chairs of parliamentary committees.
Top parliamentary staff have also been recognised. Jeremiah Nyegenye, Clerk of the Senate and Secretary of the Parliamentary Service Commission, has been recommended for the CBS, while Samuel Njoroge, Clerk of the National Assembly, is proposed for the EBS.
Other nominees include Millicent Odhiambo, State Superintendent in Audit Services, and Mary Wanyonyi Chebukati, Commissioner at the Commission on Revenue Allocation.
The Parliamentary Honours Advisory Committee has invited members of the public to submit any objections or comments regarding the nominees.
Submissions must be sent to honours@parliament.go.ke by Monday, October 13, 2025, at 5 p.m.
