RABAI, Kenya — Detectives from Rabai Sub-County have arrested three suspects linked to a notorious highway robbery gang that has been terrorising truck drivers along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
The arrests followed a tip-off from alert members of the public, prompting a targeted operation in the Mabirikani area.
The suspects, Juma Ali, Hamisi Juma, and Benedict Chirodo, are believed to be part of a larger criminal network known for attacking truck drivers near Bonje in Mazeras Township.
Police report that several items were recovered during the operation, highlighting the gang’s extensive criminal activities.

- Currency from multiple countries
- Two pairs of military boots
- Fourteen rolls of bhang
- Thirty-two pieces of mug glass
- Mobile phone chargers
- Two bales of carrier bags
- An HCL computer keyboard
The recovered items are linked to multiple cases reported at the Mazeras police station.
The suspects are currently in police custody, undergoing processing before their court appearance, while all recovered items have been secured as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
The operation underscores the importance of community intelligence and timely reporting, which has been crucial in dismantling criminal activities along one of Kenya’s busiest transport corridors.
