Ruto Appoints Ol Kalou UDA Candidate Samuel Muchina to Nairobi Rivers Commission

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – President William Ruto has appointed former Ol Kalou by-election candidate Samuel Muchina Nyaga to the Nairobi Rivers Commission (NRC), marking his latest government role after flying the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) flag in the recent mini-poll.

Muchina’s appointment fills the position previously held by Amos Chege Mugo, whose appointment to the commission has been revoked.

The appointment comes after Muchina lost in the Ol Kalou by-election, where he carried the party’s banner in the contest. Following the polls, he was assigned the supervision of ongoing government projects in Ol Kalou before taking up his new role at the NRC.

As a member of the Nairobi Rivers Commission, Muchina is expected to contribute to efforts aimed at restoring Nairobi’s river systems, tackling pollution, and supporting government initiatives to improve the city’s environmental management.

The commission has been at the centre of efforts to coordinate rehabilitation programmes for Nairobi’s rivers as the government intensifies its focus on environmental conservation and urban renewal.
