MOMBASA, Kenya- Kenyan anti-narcotics detectives have seized bhang with an estimated street value of Sh72 million and arrested six suspects in what authorities describe as a major blow to a trafficking network operating along the Coast.
The operation, led by officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU), was mounted after intelligence indicated a large consignment was being transported into Mombasa for distribution.
Detectives intercepted a truck, registration KDT 659G, along the Mombasa–Nairobi highway before it entered the city. Inside, officers found 50 sacks containing long rolls of bhang wrapped in khaki paper. The haul weighed about 2,400 kilogrammes.
The truck’s driver, Nolden Ogola Misieba, and his co-driver, Andrew Kaida, were arrested at the scene.
