Two Arrested After Suspected Stolen Prado Recovered in Moyale

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Detectives in Moyale, Marsabit County, have arrested two men after recovering a Toyota Prado suspected to have been fraudulently acquired.

Police said the white vehicle, registration number KAR 555M, was intercepted during an intelligence-led operation in Moyale town.

The driver, Mohamed Amin, 26, and his passenger, Ahmed Abdulahi Hajji, 22, were arrested.

Preliminary checks found that the vehicle’s chassis number did not match the registration details held by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), raising suspicion that it may have been tampered with or fraudulently registered.

Detectives also recovered an empty pistol magazine and a pistol holster concealed in the glove compartment, as well as rolls of bhang, according to police.

The two suspects remain in custody as detectives process the case ahead of their expected arraignment.

The circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s registration and the recovered items are under investigation.
