NAIROBI, Kenya — The National Treasury has announced that public hearings for the 2026/27 financial year budget and the Medium-Term Budget Framework will be held from November 19 to 21, 2025, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
In a statement released Tuesday, the Treasury said the sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m. each day and are part of the government’s constitutional obligation to involve citizens in the budget-making process.
The hearings are being conducted pursuant to Article 201(a) of the Constitution, which requires public participation and openness in public finance, as well as Section 36 of the Public Finance Management Act, which mandates consultations before finalizing national budget proposals.
The event will be officially launched on November 19 by Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi Ng’ongo, who will preside over the opening session.
The Treasury encouraged Kenyans, civil society groups, private sector representatives and development partners to participate in shaping national spending priorities for the upcoming financial year.
