Speaking on Inooro TV’s Kiririmbi show on Sunday night, Gachagua claimed he rejected the offer, describing it as a betrayal of the electorate and particularly the central Kenya region.
“I told him if he wants me out, let him do it publicly so that Kenyans, especially my people in central Kenya, can see he kicked me out,” Gachagua said during the interview.
The former DP further alleged that President Ruto orchestrated a campaign to remove him, involving financial incentives to lawmakers.
According to Gachagua, Members of Parliament and Senators were bribed to back his ouster, a plan he claims had been underway for over a year.
“He paid MPs and Senators to kick me out. This plan has been in motion for a long time because of our unresolved differences,” Gachagua said, suggesting the rift began shortly after the 2022 general election.
Gachagua attributed the fallout to his refusal to conform to Ruto’s expectations.
“Maybe he thought I would be a ‘yes-man,’ but I am principled. I cannot be bought or intimidated. I told him the country was headed in the wrong direction and needed a reset, but he ridiculed me and became hostile,” Gachagua explained.
