Kindiki Outlines 2025 Priorities Amid Growing Speculation Over His Status in Ruto’s Circles

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to its 2022-2027 development blueprint, ‘The Plan’, outlining five key priorities for 2025.

However, his continued absence from public events has sparked intense speculation about a possible rift with President William Ruto.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Kindiki emphasized the need to sustain macroeconomic stability, create jobs, boost household incomes, transform critical value chains, and complete strategic infrastructure projects.

But while the government sets its sights on economic progress, whispers about Kindiki’s whereabouts refuse to die down.

According to Kindiki, economic stability is at the heart of the government’s agenda. He stressed that maintaining a sound macroeconomic environment is crucial for national growth and development.

“The last weekend of the festive season offers an opportunity to get set for a critical year in the implementation of ‘The Plan,’” Kindiki wrote on X.

The Deputy President also called for collective action against societal ills, warning that issues like corruption, greed, and division could derail progress.

“We must confront the software threats that have slowed us down since independence: division, hate, bigotry, negativity, corruption, and the decline of family values,” he stated.

His comments signal a push not just for economic transformation, but also for a national culture shift—one that prioritizes integrity and unity alongside development.

Where Is Kindiki? The Mystery Surrounding His Absence

Despite his high-ranking position, Kindiki has not been seen in public since December 20, 2024. His absence from major events—including President Ruto’s New Year’s Eve Dinner at Kisii State Lodge—has fueled speculation of a possible fallout between the two leaders.

Adding to the intrigue, Kindiki has primarily used social media to communicate, rather than making in-person appearances.

This uncharacteristic silence has left many Kenyans questioning whether tensions are brewing at the highest levels of government.

Dennis Itumbi, the Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy, has dismissed rumors of a rift. However, Kindiki’s prolonged disappearance—especially after being highly visible in Ruto’s administration—has only intensified curiosity.
