Tuesday Power Outage Alert: Full List of Affected Areas Across Kenya

NAIROBI, Kenya – June 3, 2025 will bring scheduled power interruptions across various parts of the country, with Kenya Power issuing a maintenance alert affecting both urban and rural areas.

If you live in any of the listed regions, here’s what you need to know before your devices go dark.

Nairobi Region

Residents of Makongeni, including Kaloleni, Makongeni Estate, and neighboring areas, should prepare for a full-day outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Essential activities relying on power might be disrupted, so plan accordingly.

Central Rift Region: Nakuru and Baringo Brace for Blackout

In Nakuru County, power will be out in Kabarak University and surrounding areas including Ravine Dairy, Rafiki, Rawhide, Summit Borehole, and Secondary & Bakery between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Baringo County residents in Timboiywo and Sacho, including Sacho High School, Kiptachich Market, Kaplel, Tenges, and Kapkelelwa, should expect outages from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. That’s your midday routine likely disrupted.

North Rift Region: Uasin Gishu and Nandi Hit by Interruptions

Kaptinga in Uasin Gishu County will experience outages between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Nearby Kapchesukunwo will have an extended blackout from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Soiin Primary, Kapkatembu, and surrounding communities.

In Nandi County, Kabongwa and neighboring areas like Chepterit, Tulon, Kipchuno, and Kapkimbir will go dark from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. That’s a solid nine hours off the grid.

Western Region: Vihiga and Kakamega to Be Affected

In Vihiga County, Bunyore Girls, along with Maseno Water, Ebussakami, Wemilabi, Esunza, Emusire, and Epwopi, will have no power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, Lukume Market in Kakamega County and nearby areas like Sawawa, Shihome, Powersport, Konaine, and Bulupi Sec are also expected to experience the same 8-hour outage window.

North Eastern and Central Kenya: Kiambu and Kitui Counties

Karuri and Banana in Kiambu County—including major spots like Karuri Hospital, Banana Market, Shell Ndenderu, Delta Karuri, and St. Tito—will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Further east, Kitui County’s Kyango and Kinakone regions, including Kiangwa, Mwania Ngombe, Kalwasi, and Voo, are also on the outage list during the same hours.

Coast Region: Kilifi County Gets the Disconnect

Residents in Sea Horse Kilifi, including Kilifi Bridge and adjacent areas, should prepare for power loss between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Pack a power bank and stay ready.

While these scheduled outages may feel like a nuisance, they’re part of routine grid maintenance aimed at long-term reliability.
