Wednesday Power Outage Alert: Kenya Power Lists Affected Counties

Nairobi, Kenya- Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across parts of Uasin Gishu, Laikipia, and Kilifi counties this Wednesday, April 30, to facilitate essential system maintenance.

The planned outages are Kenya-Power-Scheduled-Maintenance-for-Todayexpected to occur at different times between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, depending on the region.

The utility firm noted that these proactive measures are necessary to keep the national power grid running efficiently and reduce the risk of future unplanned disruptions.

Uasin Gishu County

Power will be interrupted in parts of Uasin Gishu County between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, depending on the location.

  • 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM – Eldoret Quarry and its surrounding areas will experience an outage.
  • 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM – Areas affected include Racecourse Hospital, Unity Homes, Kapseret Centre, Cibien Quarry, and St. George’s Chepkatet.

Laikipia County

Residents and businesses in Laikipia County will face a longer outage, running from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Affected areas include: Colour Crops, Turracco, Kalalu Farm, Ibis Farm, Greenland Farm, GAW, Sirimon, Umande, Kwa Mumero, Ngenia, Mia Moja, Kithithina, Timau Market, Siraji, Oldonyo, Batian, Ngarendare, Embori Flowers, Uhuru Flowers, Kisima Flowers, PJ Dave Ltd, Timaflor, AAA Growers, Kisima Secondary, Kongoni Farm, Mbuju Primary, Thamba Ngombe, Tambuzi, Kiambogo Primary, Ngusishi, Nelion, Ethi, Marania, Wangu Farm, and adjacent areas.

Kilifi County

Power will be cut off in several areas of Kilifi County between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

These include parts of Mnarani, Vipingo, Kadzinduni, MCL, Kapecha, Jaribuni, Dzitsoni, Chasimba, Ziani, Pingilikani, and Mazuka.

Kenya Power routinely conducts these planned maintenance outages to enhance system reliability and safety. While these may cause temporary inconveniences, they help prevent longer, unexpected outages caused by equipment failure, weather, vandalism, or wildlife interference.

Residents and businesses in the affected regions are encouraged to take necessary precautions, including unplugging sensitive electronics and preparing backup power sources for critical operations.
