Wiper Leader Kalonzo Visits Raila Odinga’s Home in Bondo

Date:

BONDO, Kenya – Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday visited the late Raila Amollo Odinga’s Opoda Farm in Bondo, Siaya County, to pay his final respects to the fallen opposition leader.

Clad in jungle green attire and carrying a spear and shield, Kalonzo made a symbolic entrance to the homestead while chanting “Jowi! Jowi!” — a revered Luo expression of honour and mourning reserved for great leaders and warriors.

The Wiper leader, who was accompanied by a high-powered delegation, first visited the Odinga family home before proceeding to Kango Kajaramogi, where the ODM leader was laid to rest.

The team had departed Kisumu early Thursday morning for the visit.

In a gesture steeped in cultural symbolism and solidarity, Kalonzo’s delegation also presented 150 head of cattle to the Odinga family — a traditional act representing unity, respect, and shared grief between communities.

During the visit, Kalonzo met Mama Ida Odinga, Raila’s widow, and expressed condolences on behalf of his party and supporters.

The visit follows a series of tributes by local and international leaders who have travelled to Bondo since Raila’s burial last week, underscoring his enduring influence on Kenya’s political landscape.
