BREAKING: Iran Launches Ballistic Missiles After US Strike on Larak Island

Date:

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran has launched a large wave of ballistic missiles from multiple locations across the country following a US strike on Iranian launchers on Larak Island, with reports of explosions at a US military base in Jordan.

Iranian ballistic-missile launches have been reported from several locations, including Tehran, Karaj, Shiraz and Khorramabad, as well as areas in East and West Azerbaijan, Zanjan and Lorestan.

Videos circulating online reportedly show missile launches from Tehran Province and other parts of northern Iran. The footage and claims have not been independently verified.

Explosions reported at US base in Jordan

Multiple explosions were reported at the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan shortly after the Iranian missile launches.

The facility hosts US military personnel and has previously been used to support American operations in the region.

The reports have not yet been independently verified, and it remains unclear whether the explosions caused casualties or damage.

IRGC vows retaliation

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has confirmed that the US strike on Larak Island will trigger a response.

The IRGC said the attack would “be met with a response, and the aggressor will be punished”, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency.

The Iranian military organisation also said the US attack resulted in the deaths and injuries of several Iranian soldiers and civilians.

The statement follows the US strike on two Iranian launchers on Larak Island, which Washington said were being prepared to launch rockets carrying sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz.

US-Iran tensions escalate

The latest developments mark a significant escalation following weeks of relative calm after the United States paused its renewed military campaign against Iran in late July.

Larak Island is strategically located near the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments.

Washington has warned Iran against deploying additional mines in the waterway and has said it completed efforts to clear mines from the strait’s main shipping lane earlier this month.

Iran has rejected US claims concerning the removal of mines and has repeatedly warned against American military action.

Situation remains fluid

The reported Iranian missile launches and explosions in Jordan come amid rapidly escalating tensions across the region.

It is not yet clear how many missiles were launched, which targets were struck or whether there were casualties.

Further developments are expected as governments assess the scale and consequences of the latest Iranian response.
