Hussein’s return marks the end of a harrowing six-month ordeal for his family, friends, and constituents.
Upon reuniting with his loved ones, he was swiftly taken to a Nairobi hospital for medical evaluation.
Nairobi police boss George Sedah acknowledged reports of his return but indicated that authorities would be seeking to speak with him soon.
Meanwhile, Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi—who also chairs the Council of Governors (CoG)—welcomed the news with immense relief.
“Since his disappearance, the people of Wajir have endured a painful period of anxiety, prayers, and unwavering hope for his safe return,” Abdullahi said.

Mystery Deepens: Where Has He Been?
Hussein’s abduction has been shrouded in secrecy, with no group or individual claiming responsibility.
His disappearance on September 13, 2024, near Enterprise Road in Nairobi, fueled speculation about political motives, security involvement, or even personal vendettas.
Adding to the intrigue, activist Bob Njagi, who was abducted in Kitengela in August 2024, previously alleged that he saw Hussein in captivity at an undisclosed location.
“We may joke about this sometimes, but I want to say here that the MCA for Wajir County was actually in the room next to mine,” Njagi revealed in a televised interview last month.
“I had the opportunity to peep through the keyhole, and I saw him.”
Authorities, however, have repeatedly denied involvement in Hussein’s disappearance.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja previously stated that the investigation remained active but inconclusive, urging the public to come forward with any useful information.
