NAIROBI, Kenya— In a stunning turn of events, Wajir County MCA Yussuf Ahmed Tolfiyow Hussein, who vanished in September 2024 under mysterious circumstances, has been found alive.
The Dela Ward representative was reunited with his family on March 8, 2025, in Eastleigh, Nairobi, after being escorted there by unidentified individuals.
The dramatic homecoming immediately sparked celebrations and speculation, as neighbors and supporters flocked to his residence, eager for answers.
The circumstances surrounding his abduction and sudden reappearance remain unclear, but officials have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.
Dela Ward, Wajir MCA was returned to his home last night. We thank God for his return. Alhamdulillah As usual, government will do nothing to bring the perpetrators to book. @kipmurkomen and @IG_NPS will not even comment and will just move on. The kidnappers too will be…
A Long-Awaited Reunion Amid Lingering Questions
Hussein’s return marks the end of a harrowing six-month ordeal for his family, friends, and constituents.
Upon reuniting with his loved ones, he was swiftly taken to a Nairobi hospital for medical evaluation.
Nairobi police boss George Sedah acknowledged reports of his return but indicated that authorities would be seeking to speak with him soon.
Meanwhile, Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi—who also chairs the Council of Governors (CoG)—welcomed the news with immense relief.
“Since his disappearance, the people of Wajir have endured a painful period of anxiety, prayers, and unwavering hope for his safe return,” Abdullahi said.
“The news of his reunion brings immense joy to our community. It is a moment of gratitude and renewed hope for his family and all those who stood by them during these difficult times.”

Mystery Deepens: Where Has He Been?
Hussein’s abduction has been shrouded in secrecy, with no group or individual claiming responsibility.
His disappearance on September 13, 2024, near Enterprise Road in Nairobi, fueled speculation about political motives, security involvement, or even personal vendettas.
Adding to the intrigue, activist Bob Njagi, who was abducted in Kitengela in August 2024, previously alleged that he saw Hussein in captivity at an undisclosed location.
“We may joke about this sometimes, but I want to say here that the MCA for Wajir County was actually in the room next to mine,” Njagi revealed in a televised interview last month.
“I had the opportunity to peep through the keyhole, and I saw him.”
Authorities, however, have repeatedly denied involvement in Hussein’s disappearance.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja previously stated that the investigation remained active but inconclusive, urging the public to come forward with any useful information.

A Case of Mistaken Identity? The DNA Mix-Up
The case took an unexpected twist last year when a body was discovered in Wajir, sparking widespread speculation that it was Hussein’s.
Some locals, including his own relatives, were convinced it was him. However, two separate DNA tests confirmed that the body recovered from Lake Yahud did not belong to the missing MCA.
Despite this, Hussein’s prolonged absence only fueled more theories, frustrations, and pressure on authorities to locate him.
With Hussein finally home, the focus now shifts to his statement—what he reveals in the coming days could reshape the entire narrative around his disappearance.
Who took him? Why was he held? And how was he finally released? These remain the biggest questions.
