‘Baba, Give Us A Signal’: MP Amisi Calls Out ODM Leaders Quick To Pledge Allegiance to Ruto Before Odinga’s Burial

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has taken a swipe at a section of ODM leaders who have publicly declared continued cooperation with President William Ruto’s administration even before the burial of the former Prime Minister, late Raila Amolo Odinga.

In a fiery post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Amisi accused some party leaders of using Raila’s death to score political points and prove loyalty to the government instead of uniting in grief.

“It is not proper for some ODM leaders to come to Baba’s funeral crying that Raila Odinga left Nyanza people in the government. Let us mourn first, then tell us where he left you,” Amisi wrote.

The outspoken legislator questioned the sincerity of those proclaiming allegiance to the Ruto government, saying if Raila had indeed left them “in government,” they should not need to shout about it.

“And if indeed he left you in the government, why should you shout on top of your voices? I thought when Baba said left, it was left, and right was right — it should flow smoothly,” he added.

Amisi’s post ended on a reflective yet defiant note, invoking Raila’s symbolic rallying cry among his supporters:

“Baba, give us a signal. They are here, Baba! They never loved you, they loved government instead. They are crying louder than us. Baba, give us a signal!”

His remarks appear directed at ODM figures, including Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi, who recently pledged that the party would maintain its cooperation with President Ruto’s government “beyond 2027.”

The comments underscore the growing tension within the ODM party as questions of succession and political alignment emerge in the wake of Raila Odinga’s death, even as the nation continues to mourn one of its most influential statesmen.
