NAIROBI, Kenya—Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chief Executive Officer, Nancy Njeri Macharia, has officially proceeded on terminal leave preceding her retirement from the Commission at the end of this month.

Macharia in an internal memo addressed to all TSC Secretariat staff, expressed her gratitude for the unwavering support she received throughout her tenure.

“It has been an incredible privilege and honour to lead such a team of talented professionals in managing the affairs of our great country related to the teaching service,” read the memo in part.
“As I transition into the next chapter of my professional life, I leave with a heart full of profound gratitude for everything we have accomplished.”

Macahria disclosed that the Commission has appointed Evaleen Mitel as the Acting Commission Secretary and CEO, pending the recruitment of a substantive replacement during her transition.
She has been at the helm of the TSC for a decade.

She was first appointed in June 2015, taking over from Gabriel Lengoibon after a competitive recruitment process.
