Human Trafficking Suspects Arrested at JKIA in Separate Operations

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenyan authorities have arrested four people at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) following two separate operations that foiled alleged human trafficking and immigration fraud attempts, the Kenya Police Service has said.

In the first incident, officers arrested Iman Dib, who was travelling to Amsterdam, after discovering he was in possession of a forged Bosnia and Herzegovina visa.

Investigations led to the arrest of Samira Dib, identified as his facilitator, who police say will face charges related to human trafficking and immigration fraud.

In a separate operation at the airport, officers arrested Ahmed Eltayeb, a Sudanese national travelling to the United Kingdom, after he was found with a forged UK residence permit.

His alleged Kenyan facilitator, Abdullahi Ali, was also arrested.

Police said the arrests were the result of heightened screening and intelligence-led operations targeting transnational crime networks that exploit vulnerable travellers through document forgery and illegal migration routes.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court as investigations continue.

Authorities say the cases highlight the growing sophistication of human trafficking syndicates and the role of facilitators who profit from fraudulent travel arrangements.

The Kenya Police Service has reiterated its commitment to strengthening border security and dismantling trafficking networks operating through major entry and exit points, including JKIA.
