Agoi succeeds Migos Ogamba, who vacated the position earlier this year to take up the role of Cabinet Secretary for Education.
KenGen’s CEO, Peter Njenga, hailed Agoi as a seasoned leader with over two decades of experience in business, strategic management, and governance.
“Agoi is a self-driven professional whose expertise will be instrumental in steering the company’s growth and innovation,” Njenga said in a statement.
Agoi’s professional journey includes stints as Marketing Director at Ideal Office Products Limited and CEO of Kingsway Business Systems Limited.
He also has a strong political background, having served as Sabatia Constituency’s Member of Parliament for two terms, from 2013 to 2022.
During his time in Parliament, he was an active member of key committees such as Budget Appropriations, Health, and Special Funds Accounts.
Academically, Agoi is an alumnus of the University of Nairobi, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Government and a Master’s in Business Administration with a specialization in Strategic Management.
Njenga expressed confidence in Agoi’s ability to oversee the implementation of KenGen’s 2024–2034 strategy, which focuses on providing sustainable and reliable energy to drive Kenya’s economic transformation.
“His leadership will be crucial in ensuring KenGen maintains its position as Africa’s leading geothermal producer while fostering innovation in energy production,” Njenga added.
