President Ruto Appoints Emmanuel Nzai New Chairperson Kenya Vision 2030

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – President William Ruto has appointed Emmanuel Kombe Nzai as the new chairperson of the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Board.

The appointment, announced in a gazette notice dated July 5, 2024, marks a strategic decision to invigorate the board’s leadership with fresh expertise and innovative vision.

Nzai, a seasoned public policy professional renowned for his commitment to social innovation and economic development, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Before his appointment, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani Secretariat, an organization he founded to foster regional economic growth across Kenya’s six coastal counties: Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, and Taita Taveta.

In this capacity, Nzai successfully coordinated economic development initiatives, harmonized policies, and promoted regional assets, driving investments aimed at creating wealth and shared prosperity for local communities.

Nzai succeeds Caroline Kariuki, who has been at the helm since July 2022. His three-year term began on July 5, 2024, signaling a new chapter for the board.

Nzai’s leadership is expected to build on Kariuki’s achievements, pushing the ambitious Vision 2030 agenda with renewed vigor and strategic insights.

Nzai’s career also includes a notable foray into politics. In the 2017 general elections, he was the running mate of Ekuru Aukot under the Thirdway Alliance party.

This political experience, combined with his extensive background in economic development, positions him uniquely to navigate the multifaceted challenges of steering Kenya towards its Vision 2030 goals.

Launched in 2008 by former President Mwai Kibaki, Kenya Vision 2030 is an ambitious blueprint designed to transform Kenya into a rapidly industrializing, middle-income country by the year 2030.

The initiative aims to provide a high quality of life to all citizens within a clean and secure environment, focusing on economic, social, and political pillars to drive comprehensive national development.
