NAIROBI, Kenya — The body of former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga arrived in Kenya on Thursday morning at 9:39 a.m., aboard a Kenya Airways (KQ) flight from Mumbai, India.
President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta led top government officials in receiving the late opposition leader’s remains at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
The casket, draped in the Kenyan flag, was carried under tight security, as a prayer and brief military ceremony were held on the tarmac.
Raila’s body was accompanied by a Kenyan delegation that travelled to India to oversee repatriation arrangements. The coffin departed Mumbai International Airport at around 3:00 a.m. Kenyan time, after a short service attended by members of the Kenyan diaspora.

More details are expected to be announced later today.
Across the country, flags are flying at half-mast as Kenya observes seven days of national mourning in honor of the veteran leader and democracy champion.
