Rigathi Gachagua to Officially Launch His DCP Party on June 3, 2025 at Kasarani Indoors’ Arena

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya—Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will officially launch his new political party, Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), on June 3, 2025, at the Kasarani Indoor Arena. This will mark a new chapter in his political journey and Kenya’s shifting power landscape.

The event is expected to draw an estimated 5,000 attendees, including party supporters, invited dignitaries, and media members.

According to a formal booking request sent to the Kasarani Stadium management, the launch will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., featuring speeches, performances, and interactive sessions designed to introduce the party’s vision, manifesto, and leadership lineup.

The party, which is rallying under the slogan “Skiza Wakenya”, positions itself as a grassroots-focused movement aiming to “give voice back to the people,” according to internal sources.

The request, signed by DCP Secretary General Hezron Obaga, outlines the party’s intention to use the venue for what is expected to be a high-profile political debut.

The letter, dated May 20, 2025, asks Sports Kenya to confirm venue availability, costs, and booking procedures.

A stamp on the document shows it was received by the Kasarani Stadium registry the same day.

Gachagua unveiled DCP on May 15, setting the stage for a fresh power battle with President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The DCP’s slogan is Kazi na Haki (Work and Justice), and its logo features a hand touching an ear—symbolising attentiveness to the people. The party’s colours are green, brown, and black.

The former deputy president has positioned himself as a voice of discontent in Mt Kenya, arguing that the region has been sidelined by the UDA administration despite helping deliver Ruto’s 2022 win.

If confirmed, the June 3 launch would be the first major public show of strength for Gachagua under the new DCP banner—and a key moment in Kenya’s evolving political realignments.
