ALABAMA, United States — Alabama has executed a 41-year-old man by lethal injection for the kidnapping, sexual abuse and murder of five-year-old Kamarie Holland in a case that prosecutors described as an exceptionally brutal crime.
Jeremy Tremaine Williams was executed at Holman Correctional Facility on Thursday, August 13, 2026, after being sentenced to death for his role in the December 2021 killing.
Williams had voluntarily expedited the process leading to his execution by waiving his remaining appeals and dismissing his legal counsel, allowing Alabama authorities to proceed with the death sentence.
Mother pleaded guilty to trafficking daughter
The case also implicated Kamarie’s mother, Kristy Siple, who prosecutors said trafficked her daughter to Williams in exchange for approximately $2,500 (about Sh300,000).
Williams took the child from her home in Columbus, Georgia, across the state line to an abandoned property in Phenix City, Alabama, according to evidence presented during the trial.
Prosecutors said the child was subjected to prolonged abuse before she was killed.
Williams was accused of forcing the girl to ingest methamphetamine and recording himself abusing her. Investigators later recovered her body in the basement of the abandoned property.
The case shocked both communities because of the age of the victim and the circumstances surrounding her death.
Prosecutors presented video evidence
During Williams’ April 2024 trial, prosecutors presented video evidence that had allegedly been recorded by the accused.
The evidence was so disturbing that members of the Russell County jury reportedly wept as prosecutors presented details of what happened to the child.
Williams was subsequently convicted and received multiple death sentences arising from the crimes, including convictions related to capital murder, human trafficking and abuse of a corpse.
The convictions allowed Alabama authorities to pursue the death penalty after the conclusion of the judicial process.
Mother serving 20-year sentence
Siple separately pleaded guilty to federal child sex trafficking charges arising from the case.
She is serving a 20-year federal prison sentence.
The case highlighted the vulnerability of children to exploitation by people within their own families and the devastating consequences of child trafficking.
Law enforcement officials said Williams’ decision to abandon his remaining appeals was significant because he chose to accelerate his execution rather than continue pursuing legal challenges that could have delayed the sentence.
Alabama proceeded with the lethal injection after Governor Kay Ivey authorised the execution date.
The execution brings to an end the state’s criminal case against Williams, although the circumstances surrounding Kamarie’s death continue to be remembered as a particularly disturbing example of child trafficking and violence.
Authorities and child-protection advocates have repeatedly warned that trafficking can occur within family and social networks, making vigilance and early intervention critical to protecting vulnerable children.
