The All Saints’ Cathedral 7am Choir received an official farewell reception at the British High Commission in Nairobi as it prepares to embark on a United Kingdom tour that will see the ensemble perform at some of Britain’s most renowned churches, cathedrals and concert venues.

The special reception, held on Wednesday, July 8, brought together British diplomats, church leaders and invited guests to celebrate the choir before its departure for what has been dubbed the UK Mission Odyssey.

During the event, the choir gave attendees a preview of its upcoming performances by presenting a selection of its signature repertoire, blending traditional Christian hymns with African-inspired worship songs that have become synonymous with its ministry.

The upcoming tour will take the Nairobi-based choir across several cities in England, where it will participate in worship services, choral performances and public concerts designed to foster spiritual fellowship and cultural exchange.

The tour begins on Sunday, July 19, with a guest performance during the 11:00 a.m. morning service at St Paul’s Knightsbridge in London.

The appearance will introduce British congregations to the choir’s distinctive style, which combines Anglican liturgical traditions with African musical expression.

The choir will then travel to Lichfield Cathedral for a choral service scheduled for Thursday, July 23, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The historic cathedral is one of England’s most significant places of worship and will provide another platform for the Kenyan ensemble to share its music.

A day later, on Friday, July 24, the choir will stage a full concert at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

The evening performance is expected to showcase a broader repertoire featuring sacred music, traditional hymns and contemporary African worship arrangements. The concert is open to members of the public through advance ticket booking.

The tour continues on Sunday, July 26, when the choir will participate in two worship services at Coventry Cathedral. The first service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., while a second appearance will take place later in the afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

The itinerary also includes a planned performance at St Michael’s Church, further extending the choir’s reach to audiences across different parts of the United Kingdom.

Known for its vibrant harmonies and energetic worship style, the 7am Choir has built a strong reputation within Kenya’s Anglican community through singing ministry. The ensemble regularly leads worship during the cathedral’s 7:00 a.m. Sunday service and hence their name.

Its performances often feature rich vocal arrangements accompanied by rhythmic African influences, creating a distinctive sound that resonates with worshippers from different cultural backgrounds.

The UK Mission Odyssey is an opportunity to strengthen ties between Anglican congregations in Kenya and the United Kingdom while promoting intercultural dialogue through music.

Beyond the scheduled concerts, the visit is expected to create opportunities for fellowship with local churches, collaborations with British choirs and meaningful cultural exchanges that highlight the universal language of worship.

The farewell reception at the British High Commission served as a fitting send-off, recognising the ensemble’s contribution to faith, music and cultural diplomacy before it takes to the international stage.
