NAIROBI, Kenya — Chief Justice Martha Koome has appointed three judicial officers as Resident Magistrates and Deputy Registrars, according to a Special Issue of the Kenya Gazette published on July 31, 2026.
The appointments, made by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) under Article 172(1)(c) of the Constitution and the Judicial Service Act, take effect from July 1, 2026.
The newly appointed judicial officers are Tobias Korir, Javan Aduwo and Aileen Ingati.
In the same Gazette, Chief Justice Koome also designated the three officers to undertake additional judicial responsibilities under the Law of Succession Act, the Children Act, 2022, and the Small Claims Court Act.
Under the Law of Succession Act, the officers have been appointed to represent the High Court in succession matters within the jurisdictions of their current and future court stations.
The appointments under the Children Act, 2022 empower them to preside over cases involving children within their respective areas of jurisdiction as well as any future stations to which they may be deployed.
Additionally, under the Small Claims Court Act, 2016, the Chief Justice designated the three judicial officers as adjudicators to hear and determine proceedings under the Act within their current and future stations.
All the appointments are dated July 7, 2026, but took effect retrospectively from July 1, 2026.
