Erick Gumbo Takes Over as Kenya Re Board Chairman

NAIROBI, Kenya– Kenya Reinsurance Corporation Limited has announced the election of Erick Gumbo as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors, effective June 23, 2025.

In a public statement, the Corporation said the appointment was made in line with its Memorandum and Articles of Association.

Gumbo, a seasoned legal expert, brings over two decades of experience in legal practice and public service.

“The Board of Directors of Kenya Reinsurance Corporation Limited is pleased to announce election of Mr. Erick Onyango Gumbo, MBS, as the Chairman of the Board,” read the statement in part.


“Mr. Gumbo is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and currently the Managing Partner at G&A Advocates LLP.”

Gumbo holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and has completed postgraduate studies in Fintech Law and Policy (Duke University), Financial Markets (Yale University), Advanced Legal Drafting (International Law Institute), and Privacy Law and Data Protection (University of Pennsylvania).

He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

With 21 years of experience, Gumbo has been instrumental in representing clients in high-profile public interest cases and offering legal counsel to public and private institutions across Kenya and the East African region.

Kenya Re stated that under the new leadership, it remains committed to delivering sustainable risk and financial solutions that support client stability and enhance shareholder value.
