Father Sentenced to Life for Defiling 13-Year-Old Daughter

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – A 36-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment after the Kibera Law Courts found him guilty of defiling his 13-year-old daughter.

Principal Magistrate Zainab Abdul, who delivered the ruling, also imposed an additional five-year sentence for cruelty, after it was established that the convict repeatedly assaulted the girl with a knife and pinched her ears using pegs.

“The prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt,” the magistrate ruled, describing the father’s conduct as “a complete lack of humanity.”

She added: “Defiling one’s own daughter is the ultimate betrayal of parental duty, warranting the maximum penalty under the law.”

The court heard that the girl, who was later rescued and placed in a children’s home, confided to a social worker that her father had been defiling her. Medical evidence and witness testimony corroborated her account.

Magistrate Abdul commended the prosecution team for its thoroughness in building the case.

The additional five-year sentence will remain in abeyance while the convict serves his life term.
