EMBU, Kenya — DCP Leader Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday intensified his grassroots engagements in Mbeere North, meeting muguka and miraa farmers before endorsing Newton Kariuki, also known as Karish, as the preferred community representative.
Gachagua, who held early-morning visits to muguka farms and the Mlachake Muguka Market in Nthawa Ward, said the region needs a leader who understands the economic struggles of farmers and can champion favourable prices and better marketing structures.
“Listening to the farmers and traders here, without doubt, Mbeere North deserves a selfless representative to champion the marketing of muguka produce and good prices,” he said.
He urged farmers and traders to rally behind Kariuki, saying he aligns with their needs.
Gachagua also made a stop at Mlachake Market to interact with miraa traders before joining residents at the home of Mzee Simon in Munandari Witwa Village for what he described as a candid morning conversation over tea.
Gachagua said his frequent visits to rural communities reflect the administration’s commitment to grounding decisions on public feedback, noting that leaders “serve at the command of the people.”
