NAIROBI, Kenya – Jambojet has announced significant changes to its top leadership following the completion of board tenures for two long-serving directors.
In a notice issued, the airline confirmed the exit of Board Chair Vincent Rague and Non-Executive Director Caroline Armstrong.
Rague, who joined the board in December 2014, is credited with steering Jambojet through its formative years and driving major growth for the low-cost carrier.
The board praised him for providing “strong and steady leadership,” overseeing improved operational performance, and expanding the airline’s footprint across Kenya and the region.
Armstrong, who served on the board for nine years and sat on the Audit and Risk Committee, was also recognised for her valuable contributions.
Following their exit, the airline has appointed Ayisi Makatiani, as the new Chair of the Board of Directors.
Makatiani brings extensive experience in corporate governance, strategy, technology, and entrepreneurship.
His career spans major organisations across the continent, including Africa Online Holdings, Turnkey Africa, Caava Group, Fanisi Capital, and Kenya Airways.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), with a minor in Economics, completed at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
The board noted that Makatiani’s understanding of Jambojet’s founding values and his focus on innovation and growth will be instrumental as the airline moves into its next phase.
“His vision includes strengthening Jambojet’s regional operations, maintaining profitability, and enhancing value for the company, its stakeholders, and customers,” the announcement stated.
The leadership changes come as Jambojet continues its mission to democratise air travel, boost tourism, and deepen regional connectivity in East Africa.
