Kenya Rural Roads Authority Director General Philemon Kandie Resigns

NAIROBI, Kenya — The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) has announced the resignation of its Director General, Eng. Philemon Kandie effective Friday, July 11, 2025.

In a statement released by the Authority, the Board of Directors confirmed that Eng. Jackson K. Magondu, currently serving as Director of Planning, Design and Environment, has been appointed to take over the role in an acting capacity.

“The Board of Directors, in consultation with the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Roads and Transport, has appointed Eng. Jackson K. Magondu to the Office of the Director General on an acting basis effective July 11, 2025,” read the statement signed by Board Chairperson Anthony Ng’ang’a Mwaura.

The Authority expressed its appreciation to Eng. Kandie for his years of service and contribution to the development and expansion of rural road infrastructure across the country.

Eng. Kandie has been instrumental in leading key rural connectivity projects under KeRRA’s mandate, supporting economic development and access to remote areas.

The leadership transition comes at a time when the Authority is implementing various infrastructure projects nationwide as part of the government’s broader agenda to enhance rural development and road safety.
