Kindiki Hints at 2027 Mega Alliance With Ruto and Raila: “Who Can Defeat Us?”

Date:

MIGORI, Kenya – Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has suggested that President William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga, and himself could unite ahead of the 2027 General Election, forming what he described as an “unbeatable political force.”

Speaking during the Kuria East Constituency Economic Forum in Migori County on Saturday, Kindiki exuded confidence in the potential strength of the emerging alliance, dismissing doubts about its cohesion or chances of success.

“We are focused on working for Kenyans. The time for campaigns will come,” Kindiki said. “If you look at William Ruto, me, and now that we have His Excellency Raila Odinga on our team, do we look like people who can be defeated?”

While hinting at a powerful coalition for the next election cycle, the Deputy President insisted that the government’s current focus remains firmly on development and service delivery.

“Let the campaign period reach, and we will beat them then—but not now. Right now, we are working,” he said.

Veiled Swipe at Gachagua

In a pointed remark likely aimed at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Kindiki accused unnamed leaders of wasting their time in office and turning to public lectures after falling out with the administration.

“Others had occupied big offices but misused their time. Now they keep lecturing us in public. We want to tell them not to think we are stupid just because we are working quietly. We understand leadership,” he said.

The comments come amid growing speculation about realignments within Kenya Kwanza, with Gachagua increasingly critical of President Ruto and isolated from core decision-making.

Opposition Only Wakes Up During Campaigns – Kindiki

Kindiki also lashed out at opposition leaders, accusing them of lacking any tangible development agenda and only engaging the public during election seasons.

“They usually wait for the campaign period to remember Mama Mboga. They buy an apron for Sh50 to lie to her. They look for boda boda riders and give them reflectors for Sh50 to trick them into voting,” he said.

The Deputy President stressed that the Kenya Kwanza government was committed to supporting small-scale traders and the hustler economy beyond election cycles.

“Real support is consistent. Not just when it’s time to seek votes,” he added.

Kindiki also urged Kenya Kwanza leaders to stay grounded and avoid complacency, noting that political power is fleeting.

“Leadership is not permanent. Everyone becomes a ‘former’ at some point. Let’s work while we still can.”
