NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power interruption on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, affecting several parts of Kisumu, Busia, Migori, Nyeri, and Kitui counties.
The outage, set to last from morning through the late afternoon, is part of routine maintenance aimed at enhancing electricity supply reliability.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, the utility company said the maintenance will affect both residential and commercial customers across the affected regions, with most areas expected to be without power from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Affected Areas:
Western Region
- Kisumu County (Masogo, Ngere Kagoro): Areas including Masogo Market, Sangayo, Rutek, Miwani, Nyakoko School, Amilo, and surrounding communities.
- Busia County (Bumbe, Sigalame): Includes Sigalame High School, Bumu Technical, Samia Girls, Buduong’i, Sio Port, Mmbaka, Busijo, Nabuganda, and nearby customers.
South Nyanza Region
- Migori County (Isibania, Nyabohanse, Mabera): Includes parts of Migori Town, Namba, Komomwamu Market, Motemorabu, Nyabohanse, and surrounding villages.
Mt. Kenya Region
- Nyeri County (Itiati Market and surrounds): Outages will affect Kiangurwe, Gachuiri, General China Market, Highlands, Kariga-ini, Mukonye, Gitunduti, and others including Safaricom and Airtel Boosters.
North Eastern Region
- Kitui County (Kiongwe, Inyuu, Uzombe): Areas such as Kanguu, Kwa Amutei, Kathande, Kyululu, Zombe, Ndunune, Maskalini, and Muthungue are on the list.
Kenya Power has urged customers in the affected regions to make necessary arrangements and remain cautious during the maintenance period.
