NAIROBI, Kenya – The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has unveiled a new digital payment system dubbed KWSPay, replacing the old eCitizen platform in a move aimed at improving efficiency and user experience.
The upgraded platform, launched on Saturday evening in partnership with eCitizen, will serve as the central system for booking and paying for conservation fees and other KWS services.
According to KWS, KWSPay is designed to address technical challenges and delays that users and tourism stakeholders had raised under the previous payment system.
The new system provides greater flexibility and convenience by offering multiple payment options, including M-Pesa, bank cards, bank transfers, and eWallet services.
KWS said the rollout marks a significant step in enhancing digital access to national parks and reserves, particularly for both local and international visitors who have often faced hurdles in online transactions.
The agency added that the new service underscores its commitment to leveraging technology to promote conservation and improve customer service across its operations.
