Linda Bach Appointed New CEO of Kenya Editors Guild

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – The Kenya Editors Guild (KEG) has appointed Linda Bach as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 16, 2025.

Bach, who currently serves as the Council Member for Print Media, succeeds Rosalia Omungo, who has held the position for the past eight years.

In a statement to members, KEG President Zubeidah Kananu said the council was confident Bach’s leadership would “drive the organisation forward” in promoting media freedom, credibility, and professionalism.

Following her appointment, Bach will relinquish her council role. Andy Kagwa of the Standard Group will take over as Council Member for Print Media, while Millicent Awuor has been named Chairperson of the Programmes Committee—a position previously held by Bach.

Kananu thanked Omungo for her stewardship, noting her role in strengthening KEG’s institutional capacity and influence in advancing press freedom.

“We sincerely thank Rosalia for her sterling role in steering KEG and wish her all the best in her future endeavors,” Kananu said.

Bach’s leadership is expected to reinforce the guild’s position as a key player in safeguarding editorial independence and shaping the future of journalism in Kenya.
