Media personality Marya Prude has opened up about the painful collapse of her marriage to broadcaster Willis Raburu, revealing that she turned to her pastor immediately after discovering what she believes was evidence of an affair.
Speaking during an appearance on the Mike Obe Comic (Mike One) Podcast, Marya revisited one of the most difficult chapters of her life, detailing how grief, betrayal and the breakdown of her marriage unfolded within months of losing the couple’s daughter, Adana.
According to Marya, discovering the alleged affair marked a turning point in her marriage and left her searching for spiritual guidance before making any major decisions.
“I sat with it for a couple of days, and then I called my pastor and told her, ‘This is what is happening,'” she said.
The former couple had already been navigating unimaginable grief following the loss of their newborn daughter in 2019. Marya said the strain of mourning, coupled with the alleged betrayal, created what she described as the darkest period of her life.
Reflecting on the months that followed, she said the period between January and May 2020 felt like “hell,” as she struggled to cope with the emotional weight of losing a child while simultaneously watching her marriage fall apart.
“I was going through hell,” she recalled, describing those months as the toughest season she has ever experienced.
Marya further claimed that after she confronted Raburu with the alleged evidence of infidelity, he suggested that they separate. She said the conversation marked the beginning of the end for their marriage.
I can’t reveal my ways, but the conclusion was that there was an affair. I ended up finding evidence….. I was like, ‘I know her; this is your colleague. So this is what has been happening. I didn’t know what to do. I was crying; it was bad,” she shared.
“And then he said, ‘Let’s separate,’ and I was like, ‘Cool, let’s do that.’ So we planned the date and time, and everybody moved.”
Although the two later attempted to salvage their relationship through couples therapy, Marya said the efforts ultimately failed to repair the damage.
She disclosed that Raburu eventually initiated the divorce process by sending her the divorce papers via WhatsApp, a moment she said underscored just how broken their relationship had become.
She has consistently maintained that she discovered evidence linking Raburu to his colleague, Ivy Namu, whom she alleges was involved with him while they were still married. Raburu has not publicly responded to these specific allegations.
Marya also reflected on the physical and emotional toll the relationship took on her.
Raburu and Marya married in 2017 before welcoming their daughter, Adana, whose death shortly after birth devastated the couple.
Years after the divorce, Marya says she continues to heal while sharing her experience in the hope that others facing grief, betrayal and separation may find encouragement in knowing they are not alone.
