Mashujaa Day 2025: PS Omollo says Kitui’s Ithookwe Stadium 92% Complete

Date:

KITUI, Kenya – The government says preparations for this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kitui County are nearly complete, with 92 percent of the work already finalized at Ithookwe Stadium, the main venue.

On Tuesday, Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo, led the National Steering Committee in inspecting facilities and infrastructure ahead of the October 20 national holiday.

The 2025 celebrations will run under the theme “Energy”, honoring Kenya’s heroes and heroines while spotlighting the government’s progress in the energy sector.

During the tour, Dr. Omollo assessed infrastructural readiness, logistical planning, and security arrangements at Ithookwe Stadium.

He said pending works—including roofing, seating, and access points—will be completed in the coming days.

The PS also visited the Kitui Airstrip, the refurbished County Commissioner’s Residence, and access roads being upgraded by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) and the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA).

“These investments will not only ensure seamless, secure, and inclusive celebrations but also leave a lasting legacy for Kitui County,” he said.

This will be the first time Kitui hosts Mashujaa Day, one of Kenya’s three national holidays that commemorate the country’s heroes.
