Political activist and businessman Morara Kebaso has broken his silence on allegations surrounding his family, strongly defending his record as a father and accusing his political opponents of spreading false claims to damage his reputation.
Kebaso addressed the allegations in a series of posts on X, where he detailed his involvement in raising his children and rejected claims that cast him as a violent or irresponsible father.
The outspoken politician said he had remained actively involved in his children’s lives, including during their births and early years.
“I have walked the journey of fatherhood with responsibility and honor,” Kebaso said.
He went on to describe his presence during the births of his children, saying he attended the deliveries, cut their umbilical cords and became the first person to hold them after birth.
Kebaso also said he remained involved in the day-to-day responsibilities of raising his children, including caring for them during the night, washing their clothes and changing nappies.
His comments came as allegations about his conduct within his family continued to circulate publicly.
Kebaso dismissed the claims as politically motivated and accused his opponents of attempting to use his family life to undermine his public image.
“The propaganda being peddled by my political opponents is baseless and fabricated,” he said.
The businessman also asked his critics to leave his family out of political disputes, arguing that his relatives and other people close to him should not become targets because of his political activities.
“As I said earlier and will say again stop targeting my loving family or innocent people living normal lives away from politics,” Kebaso said.
He maintained that his approach to fatherhood extended beyond providing for his children financially. He described himself as a leader within his household and said he had taken an active role in instilling values such as honesty, respect and responsibility in his children.
Kebaso also invoked his faith while defending himself against the allegations, arguing that the relationship he has with his children contradicts the picture being painted of him.
“A man who loves his children like this will not hurt the people God has placed under his care,” he said.
He challenged those spreading the allegations to produce evidence, insisting that he was prepared to respond if further claims emerged that could affect his reputation, business interests or political career.
The politician explained that people close to him had advised him to remain silent and avoid escalating the dispute. However, he said his previous experiences had convinced him that silence could allow damaging narratives to spread unchecked.
Kebaso said he had reached a point where he would speak publicly when allegations against him had a direct impact on his reputation.
“My friends and family told me to keep quiet and be the bigger person. But I have past experience on what silence does. If you don’t tell your story, it is told for you,” he said.
He argued that failing to respond could allow allegations to become accepted as truth, particularly when there was no alternative account in the public domain.
Kebaso further linked his decision to speak out to his political ambitions, saying attacks on his reputation among women could have consequences because women form a significant voting bloc. He said he would therefore not allow allegations that he considers false to go unanswered if they could affect his leadership career or business brand.
The politician also rejected the idea that men should remain silent about personal disputes in the name of maintaining dignity or avoiding public confrontation. According to Kebaso, men should be able to defend themselves when accusations threaten their reputations, particularly when they have evidence to challenge what has been said about them.
He also indicated that he had documentation supporting his account and warned that he was prepared to produce it if the dispute continued.
“I hope this story ends here but if it continues i am always ready with my file,” he said.
Kebaso’s response comes amid a wider public dispute involving his estranged wife Mercy Makini, who has publicly alleged domestic violence and described the circumstances that led her to leave their marriage.
Makini has said she walked away from the relationship because of domestic violence and accused Kebaso of physically assaulting her, including during pregnancy.
The dispute has since moved into the public arena, with both sides presenting their accounts of the breakdown of their relationship.
He maintained that he would protect his family from political attacks while reserving the right to publicly defend himself when allegations have consequences for his personal reputation, business and political ambitions.
