Murkomen Meets Israeli Envoy, Affirms Kenya’s Support for Multilateral Peace Efforts

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Tuesday met Israel’s Ambassador to Kenya, Gideon Behar, to explore ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, with a focus on cybersecurity and regional stability.

In a statement posted on his official X account, Murkomen said Kenya and Israel share longstanding diplomatic and economic ties covering agriculture, trade, technology exchange, and security collaboration.

“This morning, I met with the Israeli Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Gideon Behar, to discuss ways of deepening this cooperation, especially in the area of cyber-security,” Murkomen said.

The meeting comes amid growing global concerns over cyber threats targeting critical infrastructure and government systems.

Kenya has in recent years intensified efforts to bolster digital security frameworks as part of broader public sector reforms and national security strategies.

Beyond bilateral matters, the two leaders also discussed international peace and security, including the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Murkomen reiterated Kenya’s position in favour of multilateral engagement in resolving the crisis.

“I assured the Ambassador that Kenya supports the framework of multilateral institutions in the resolution of the conflict and efforts towards de-escalation,” he stated.

Kenya maintains diplomatic relations with Israel while also supporting broader international peace frameworks under the United Nations system.

Nairobi has historically positioned itself as a proponent of dialogue, mediation, and adherence to international law in conflict resolution.
