Nandi Man Arrested After Stabbing Brother-in-Law to Death in Family Dispute

Date:

NANDI, Kenya – A domestic row in Baraton, Nandi County, turned deadly on Monday evening after a man allegedly stabbed his brother-in-law to death during a confrontation.

Police identified the suspect as Daniel Kipkorir, 38, who is accused of killing Geoffrey Kimutai, 34, following a dispute with his wife.

According to a police report filed by Chemundu Assistant Chief Solomon Tarus, the quarrel began when Kipkorir argued with his 32-year-old wife.

The woman fled their home with the couple’s three children and sought refuge at her father’s homestead in Baraton.

Later that evening, at around 6:00 p.m., Kipkorir allegedly showed up at the homestead armed with a knife, reportedly intending to take his children. His two brothers-in-law attempted to stop him, sparking a heated altercation.

During the confrontation, Kipkorir is said to have stabbed Kimutai in the chest and left shoulder. Bystanders who rushed to the scene attacked Kipkorir before he was rescued by good Samaritans.

Kimutai was rushed to Kapsabet Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival due to excessive bleeding.

His body was later moved to the White Crescent Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.

Kipkorir, who had sustained injuries from the mob beating, was arrested while seeking treatment at White Crescent Hospital.

He is currently being held at Kapsabet Police Station as detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Chesumei Sub-County pursue further investigations.
