New DStv and GOtv Prices in Kenya: Here’s What You’ll Now Pay

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Pay TV provider MultiChoice Kenya has announced sweeping price cuts on DStv and GOtv decoders and installation kits, in a fresh bid to regain customers following a massive drop in subscriptions.

Under the new festive season offer, the DStv Zapper decoder now costs Sh850, down from Sh1,199, while the GOtv decoder price has been reduced to Sh799 from Sh999.

The DStv Dish Kit will now retail at Sh1,650, a Sh350 drop, and the GOtv antenna has been cut to Sh700 from Sh1,000.

GOtv customers can also subscribe to the Value Package at a reduced price of Sh599, part of a campaign aimed at “making entertainment more accessible” across households.

“These offers are our way of saying thank you to our customers for their loyalty and trust, while inviting new customers to join our growing family,” said MultiChoice Kenya Managing Director Nzola Miranda. “This festive season, we’re making it easier for families to connect with the content they love.”

The discounts — available until December 31, 2025 — apply across all MultiChoice Kenya service centres, authorised dealers and retailers nationwide.

The move comes as MultiChoice faces one of its toughest years yet, after losing over 80 per cent of its Kenyan subscribers in the year to June 2025.

The company now has 188,824 active DStv subscribers, down from 1.19 million a year earlier, as many households ditch pay TV for cheaper or illegal online streaming options.

The company’s struggles have been compounded by a string of price hikes. Earlier this year, MultiChoice increased its subscription fees for the fifth time in less than three years, with the Premium package rising to Sh11,700 from Sh11,000, and Compact Plus to Sh7,300 from Sh6,800.

The price cuts come just weeks after French media giant Canal+ completed its takeover of MultiChoice, acquiring 94.39 per cent of shares in what it described as the largest transaction in its history.

MultiChoice is now banking on the festive price reductions to stem the decline and attract budget-conscious viewers seeking reliable access to sports, news, and entertainment.
