NAIROBI, Kenya – The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has announced the full resumption of operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after a brief precautionary closure earlier today.
In a statement issued on Thursday, KCAA said the security situation that led to the temporary suspension of flights has been resolved, and the airport has been declared safe for passengers and airlines.
“The security situation that prompted the precautionary closure has been resolved, and the airport has been declared safe for full resumption of flights and passenger services,” said KCAA Director General Emile Arao.
Normal operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) have been fully restored following the earlier temporary suspension.
While the agency did not specify the nature of the incident, it described the closure as a precautionary measure taken to ensure the safety of travelers and staff.
KCAA thanked passengers, airlines, and airport workers for their patience during the disruption and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency in Kenya’s aviation sector.
Operations at the region’s busiest airport were briefly halted earlier in the day, causing delays to several inbound and outbound flights. Normal flight schedules have since resumed.
The authority urged travelers to contact their respective airlines for updated flight information as services stabilize.
