Kenyan rapper Octopizzo has opened up about why he increasingly prefers spending much of his time in Europe rather than in Kenya.
Speaking during a recent interview, the celebrated rapper explained that fame in Kenya has become overwhelming and sometimes limits his ability to enjoy normal day-to-day life.
According to Octopizzo, one of the biggest reasons he enjoys staying abroad is the anonymity he experiences while in European cities.
“In Europe, I’m just another random guy on the street,” he shared, noting that he can walk freely, dress however he wants and move around without attracting attention.
The rapper explained that unlike in Kenya, where he is constantly recognized in public, life abroad allows him to enjoy simple activities without pressure or scrutiny.
He revealed that fame back home has at times started feeling like a burden.
Octopizzo said there are moments in Kenya when he feels almost trapped by celebrity culture, comparing the experience to being under “house arrest” because even basic tasks like going to the shop can quickly turn into public attention.
For the rapper, Europe provides an escape from the intense spotlight that comes with being one of Kenya’s most recognizable music stars.
The musician also pointed to family as another major reason he spends long periods abroad.
A significant part of his immediate family, including his children, lives outside Kenya, making travel and extended stays overseas an important part of his personal life.
Beyond privacy and family, Octopizzo suggested that life abroad offers opportunities and a quality of life that he appreciates more.
He compared the calmer environment in Europe with the daily pressures many Kenyans face, saying the difference becomes clear when one experiences both worlds.
Over the years, Octopizzo has built a reputation not just as a musician but also as a businessman, fashion enthusiast and creative entrepreneur with strong international connections.
His travels across Europe and other parts of the world have seen him attend fashion events, art exhibitions and global music collaborations that have helped shape his artistic identity.
Fans have long noticed his preference for spending time outside the country, often sharing photos and updates from various international destinations.
However, despite his admiration for Europe, the rapper made it clear that he has not abandoned his Kenyan roots.
Away from the city, Octopizzo says he still finds comfort in his rural home in Siaya County, where he experiences a quieter lifestyle compared to Nairobi.
According to him, village life gives him a sense of calm because people are less intrusive and allow him more personal space.
