Open University of Kenya Advertises 62 Academic and Administrative Jobs

MACHAKOS, Kenya — The Open University of Kenya (OUK) has announced 62 academic and administrative job vacancies, opening a major recruitment drive as the country’s newest public university continues to build its teaching and operational capacity.

In a notice issued on Monday, January 12, the university invited qualified and interested applicants to apply for a wide range of academic, technical, and administrative positions.

“To give a dynamic and strategic leadership, OUK invites qualified and interested applicants to serve in the positions listed below,” the university said in the advertisement.

The academic vacancies span several disciplines. In computing and mathematics, OUK is seeking a Deputy Director for Teaching and Learning, a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science, Lecturers in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistics, Tutorial Fellows in Computer Science and Mathematics/Statistics, and a Research Assistant in Computer Science.

In health and agriculture, the university has advertised for a Lecturer in Community Health Nursing, a Tutorial Fellow in Midwifery, a Lecturer in Agricultural Economics, and a Tutorial Fellow in General Agriculture.

The School of Business and Economics has openings for Lecturers in Accounting and Human Resource Management, as well as Tutorial Fellows in Finance, Supply Chain and Logistics Management, and Project Management.

In the School of Education, OUK is recruiting Lecturers in Kiswahili, English, and Education Psychology.

There are also vacancies for a Tutorial Fellow in Technology Education (Power Mechanics) and a Research Assistant in Education with a focus on English Literature.

Beyond teaching roles, the university is also strengthening its digital and administrative infrastructure.

Advertised technical positions include Principal ICT Officer, Senior ICT Officer in Network Security and Infrastructure, Senior ICT Officer (EdTech and Artificial Intelligence focus), Senior ICT Officer Full Stack Developer, ICT Officer for Learner Support and Learning Operations, ICT Officer Multimedia Designer (UI/UX and Digital Media), ICT Officer Full Stack Developer, and Systems Librarian Officer II.

Administrative and support roles on offer include Deputy Director of Human Resource Management, Senior Procurement Officer, Senior Procurement Assistant II, Senior Accountant, Assistant Director of Legal Services, Senior Assistant Registrar, Administration Officer II, Accounts Assistant II, Driver I, Clerical Officer I, and Clerical Officer II.

Applicants are required to submit an application letter and a detailed curriculum vitae outlining academic qualifications, professional experience, and, where applicable, academic leadership.

They must also list publications, awards, scholarships, funding, professional memberships, and linkages, and provide valid contact details.

Copies of academic certificates, national identity cards, and other testimonials must be attached. Candidates holding degrees from foreign universities are required to include a letter of recognition from the Commission for University Education (CUE).

Applications should be addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Open University of Kenya, P.O. Box 2440-00606, Nairobi, and submitted online through the university’s careers portal.

The deadline for applications is February 2, 2026. OUK said only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and successful applicants will be required to have three referees submit confidential references directly to the university through a system-generated process.
