Rescue Operation Underway After 8-Storey Building Collapses in Oloolua

Date:

KAJIADO, Kenya — Four people are feared trapped after an eight-storey building under construction partially collapsed on Saturday in the Ole Nairi area of Oloolua, Kajiado North.

Officials from the National Disaster Management Unit have since arrived at the scene and say the rescue operation is being conducted with extreme caution amid fears that more victims could still be buried beneath the rubble.

Authorities warned that the remaining section of the structure is unstable and at risk of further collapse, complicating efforts to reach those trapped.

The rescue mission has also been hampered by heavy rains pounding the area, slowing operations and increasing safety concerns for emergency responders.

Residents gathered at the scene urged authorities to speed up the rescue efforts.
