MOLO, Kenya – Police in Molo have arrested six suspects believed to be behind a large-scale mobile phone fraud syndicate that used thousands of identity cards and SIM cards to swindle unsuspecting Kenyans.
According to Molo Deputy County Commissioner Josphat Olechuta, officers recovered 2,464 national ID cards and over 3,000 SIM cards during a Wednesday operation targeting the group.
“The suspects are in custody and are being interrogated as investigations continue to uncover the full network behind the fraud,” Olechuta said.

The suspects are alleged to have used the SIM cards and ID numbers to register multiple mobile money accounts, which they then used to defraud victims across the country.

“Protecting your personal data is crucial in preventing financial losses and combating the rising cases of mobile money fraud,” he said.
