TRANS NZOIA, Kenya – Fourteen people have been arrested in connection with the recent attack on Governor George Natembeya’s residence, where property was vandalised and stolen during an incident involving the obstruction of Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers.
The arrests follow a joint operation by local police in Trans Nzoia West and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters Operations Unit.
Authorities say the suspects are linked to acts of malicious damage and theft that occurred during the violent disruption of an EACC operation.
Those arrested include Leon Ikua, Brian Mutonyi, James Maina, Churchil Ambula, Chirispus Kingara, Joseph Kakanja, Daniel Kanyingi, Levy Kiprotich, John Kamau, Benjamin Bukhala, Lavingtone Kipkemboi, Isaac Nyongesa Wanyonyi Wasike, Tonny Wafula Wasike, and Ismael Juma.

The incident, which raised questions about the safety of public officers executing their duties, has drawn national attention.
In a statement on Thursday, investigators confirmed that operations are ongoing, with the next phase targeting financiers, facilitators, and suspected ringleaders of the attack.
“The multi-agency team is committed to bringing all perpetrators to justice, including those behind the planning and orchestration of the violence,” said an officer familiar with the case.
The EACC has yet to release details about the nature of its operation at the governor’s residence or how the situation escalated, but sources indicate it was related to ongoing corruption investigations.
